Red Snow by oreoblizzardd - Reading Comprehension Questions
1. In panel 5 of the first page of the comic, Jocelyn Berwick tells viewers to “beware of red snow.” Why does the news anchor provide this warning? What type of literary device is the author using, and how does it add to the overall story?
2. Throughout the snowball fight, Lukas and David constantly bicker with each other. An example of their arguing is page 3 in particular, the two share a heated argument which causes David to snap and scream out in anger. Which comment of Lukas’s caused David to react in this way? Why might this comment have upset David so much? What does this constant fighting reveal about their relationship with each other, their characters, or their individual backgrounds?
3. Over the course of the story, the young boys’ childish and innocent snowball fight quickly escalates into a bloodbath as they craft weapons out of ice and commit acts of violence against each other. The cruelty comes to a climax once one of them ends up murdered, which only leads to even more bloodshed and death. What might this suggest about the motivations of the characters? What thematic elements or societal commentary might the author be trying to convey?
